This Saturday’s racing sees the NSW meeting being held yet again at Kembla Grange thanks to Rosehill being right in the heart of the Sydney Covid outbreak (Thanks Glad Bags), while Melbourne sees us back at the home of racing in Australia, the beautiful Flemington Racecourse – if you have never been to a race meeting here before, do yourself a favour and when we can get down there.

Kembla Grange is a bit of an unknown for me, so this week I am sticking to Flemington where the racing always seems to be fair and even giving every horse a chance, which as punters is what we love. The track is expected to be a good 4 and the rail in the true position.

Going for a crack early on with Race 2 – Number 1 – Artorius. $50 the win at whatever price you can get on the day. Pretty much all bookies these days do bonus bets up to $50 the early races and Artorius will either give us a nice little kicker to start the day or a bonus bet for later on. He is 2nd up over 1400m after he flew home (as a $3 fav) last start over 1200m at Caulfield, where he settled last and had to do a lot of work getting past his rivals. With the speed on in this race, he should have little drama sitting towards the tail and having the entire long Flemington straight to work into the race and fly past his rivals. Last time he was 2nd up he won by 4.5 lengths.

Next Race 7, the Bobbie Lewis down the straight. Personally,I love these straight races and I am looking at a horse that also loves them in Number 1 – Zoutori and we are having $10 each way on him – currently $7.  He is 4 from 9 up the straight and is 4 from 8 first up as well, only worry is the 59.5kg he has to carry. I am confident he will get a nice spot in running and come home well enough – there is predicted to be a bit of a head wind so a horse getting cover and coming late is where I am looking.  5 and 9 are the main dangers in my opinion.

Race 8 the great Makybe Diva stakes over 1600m, what a great horse the Diva was in her time.  And a lot of this field last ran in the Winx stakes (2 names in racing that get anyone excited).  With no speed in this race the speed map is a bit of a mess, and I am looking at one of a bit of value who will give a good show if tactics are to settle more forward in number 11 – Collette – we will have $5 each way and she is $17s at the moment. 4, 10 and 12 will be hard to beat but we want the value.

Race 9 – Number 14 – Skyman – $15 win and then have a little saver on number 4 – Defibrillate – $5 win. Both came through the same race last time and were equally as impressive with Skyman running the slower part of the track to narrowly miss and carries same weight here, Defibrillate was well back and in worst part of the track and ran well, goes up 3kgs vs Skyman but will be better suited 2nd up out to 1700m at Flemington. Have the Skyman bet first so it works as the bonus bet if betting at any bookie that offers these on all Sat races.
