Mr X’s Saturday Horsing Around Tips

OK week 1 wasn’t really the best start, with a bonus bet $50 from Artorius closing 2nd. Zoutori an unlucky 4th, our value tip in Collette raced opposite to what we predicted and still came home well for 5th – one to watch for the Caulfield Cup and then we had 2nd Defibrillate at almost double figure odds and 4th Skyman in the last of the day. A bit of woulda coulda shoulda in week 1 but hey that’s punting and on we move to week 2.

Racing this week in Sydney is at Randwick where its currently a soft 6, but mint conditions will see that upgrade to perhaps as good as a good 4 by race time. Rail is out 7m. Melbourne racing sees us head to Caulfield where the track is a good 4 but with rain expected dare say we will be racing on a soft track, the rail here is out 6m and there is an expected strong wind on race day as well which could have a negative effect on leaders. Really tough day of racing with a few Favs that look very hard to beat especially the great mare Verry Elleegant in Sydney especially if track stays soft.

Melbourne Race 2 – Number 7 – He’s a Balter – $10 win

He is absolutely flying at the moment and been racing in easier races but drops weight here and should get a good run and will settle towards the tail but be able to work into the race and come home strong.

Sydney Race 7 – Number 7 – Verry Elleegant – $50 win

I just can’t go past greatness, especially when she is around the $2 price currently, we will either get some play money or a bonus bet. She would have won last start if not for Brandenburg breaking down on her inside going down the straight which would have spooked her I feel. She is the best horse and think she will be too good for this classy field. I do like Hungry Heart going forward as well and might even put a small bet on her – she copped a knock at a critical time.

Melbourne Race 6 – number 11 – Aidensfield – $10 each way

The favourite looks very hard to beat here in Annavisto, but at $2.15 (current price) way too short and Aidensfield represents great value here as she is very genuine and has been unlucky lately. A better run here she may well get home.

Melbourne Race 9 – Number 4 – La Mexicana – $10 each way

Represents value for mine, has Bella Nipotina’s measure and has good track and distance form and a little rain or a softer track will suit her big time.
