So, I’m a massive fan of college football, and I want to do something to cover it during the regular season and on the lead up to the playoff. So I’m going to pick a few games each week and give my predictions for those games.
So here we go.
The first game I wanna talk about is the early kick off between Cincinnati and Indiana. Indiana had an amazing season last year finishing 6-2 to be the 2nd best team in the Big 10 behind Ohio State. All be it in a Covid Interrupted season, with there conference seemingly doing whatever they could to stop football from happening. They had a successful season. This year starting 1-1 with nobody expecting them to do anything special this year. The game against Cincinnati could be there chance to prove some doubters wrong.
Cincinnati on the other hand also had an amazing season last year. They went a perfect season only being beaten by a good Georgia Bulldogs team in the Peach Bowl. They’ve started this year in good form again with 2 blow out wins over largely unimpressive opposition. This game is one game on there schedule we’re if there any chance of being the first group of 5 team to make the playoff they have to win this game.
Looking at the betting markets for this Cincinnati are $1.56 favourites to Indiana’s $2.45. Line is currently 3.5. I’d be sprinkling a little bit of money on Cinci -3.5 I think they can win this one by at least a touchdown probably more if I’m honest.
Cincinnati-3.5 is the go here.
Next game I want to talk about is my Florida Gators at home to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Now as a Gators fan I go in to this one with a lot of nerves. On one side, let’s face it, Bama blew out on overrated Miami side and did what was expected against Mercer College although they didn’t cover the spread. So that gives me a bit of hope. This will be their Quarterback Bryce Young’s first real road test. Going into the swamp against a fired up Florida fan base. This is a real SEC Road Game.
On our side, Coach Mullen will probably play Emory Jones even though most people think Anthony Richardson seems to be the better option, even though it’s a small sample size. We’ve played good not great in the first 2 games of our season but this is definitely a whole different beast. Looking for our normally weak defence to step up on this one and prove people wrong. But I’m not confident.
At the moment Bama are clear favourites at $1.14. The line is currently 14.5. I’m pretty confident we can cover the points but I don’t think we have what it takes to win outright. The Under for me is the play. 59.5 as I type this. Could see Young having a hard time on the road.
Florida +14.5 and Under 59.5 is my play on this one.
The last game I wanna talk about is Penn State at Auburn. Probably the best game this weekend, or at least 2 biggest names going head to head. Big 10 powerhouses Penn State off a tough gritty win in week 1 over Wisconsin and an expected dominant win over Ball St last weekend. At home, at night, doing the White Out, this is going to be an incredibly intimidating arena to welcome Auburn and there easily intimidated QB Bo Nix. It’s a game I expect Auburn to try and get the run game going, and considering how good Penn States defence against noted run team Wisconsin was, I can’t see it being successful.
Auburn have 2 big wins over nobody really and as the roll into Penn State on Saturday night they face the strongest team they have seen so far, and with a hugely loud home crowd behind them. For Bo Nix, it’s a game that could cement his legacy as a bust. Someone who people expected so much out of but have largely got nothing from, or change there opinions to someone who matured and learnt to deal with the adversity thrown at him.
This one has Penn State as 5 point favourites. I think they’ll cover that in a 7-10 point win. The total is the roughy here. 52.5 is pretty low for a College game but I’m taking it. Penn States defence combined with that loud crowd intimidating Bo Nic and the Auburn Offence. This game has 24-13 written all over it.
Penn State -5 and Under 52.5 is the play here.
Well there it is, nuts on the table. A bit like our Mr X of horse racing but for College football. I’m not gunna put a dollar amount I think you should spend. Everyone’s Units are different. But of course Gamble Responsibly.
